Handheld tester checks safety and more
Multifunction tester not only checks the electrical safety of electronic equipment and electrical appliances, but also checks the condition of the electrical circuit to which they are connected.
A new multifunction tester not only checks the electrical safety of electronic equipment and electrical domestic appliances, but also checks the condition of the electrical circuit to which they are connected. The new PrimeTest 200 handheld unit from Seaward Electronic incorporates important safety-testing capabilities for in-service testing along with installation and digital multimeter test functions. The instrument has a comprehensive range of tests to check the electrical safety of the electronic or electrical appliance and its power socket as well as diagnostic tests for service and repair.
The special tester has been designed for the fast and effective in-service testing of electrical equipment carried out by service engineers, domestic appliance installers and contractors.
The unit is battery powered requiring mains power only for tests which must be performed at mains voltage.
For electrical safety, tests are selected for either Class I or Class II equipment and all appropriate tests are carried out automatically.
In addition an IEC power cord test is also incorporated which automatically sequences through all required tests.
Protective earth current leakage and touch current tests can also be carried out when the PrimeTest 200 is connected to a mains power supply.
A suite of complementary electrical installation tests can be undertaken with the same unit to verify building wiring conditions.
These include an earth loop impedance check, RCD test and socket polarity test to provide an indication of the status of the electrical circuit to which an appliance or equipment might be connected.
In addition, the PrimeTest 200 enables conventional digital multimeter voltage and continuity measurements to be made.
A temperature measurement facility is also provided for use with an optional accessory temperature module.
The new instrument features a large easy to use rotary switch for test selection and simple push button control for test initiation.
A large backlit analogue and digital display gives a clear reading of test results allowing the user to make informed decisions about the safety of an appliance or electrical circuit.
Other special features include integral rubber bumpers for rugged use, a test button lock for continuous measurement, an automatic switch off when not in use and a battery life indicator.
